Small Wonders for the Weekend: Bubble Prints

bubble printsOver the last year, I’ve had the good fortune to meet weekly with a young person who likes nothing more than to play, experiment, build things, and continuously, and often rather messily, extend the limits of any given project, task, or endeavor.  We tend to settle upon an idea, gather up the materials to carry it out, and off we go.  Perhaps you’d like to join in?

You will need the following:

  • 3 small bowls
  • bubble solution
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar per bowl
  • food coloring
  • straws
  • spoons for stirring
  • paper

Pour bubble solution, 1 teaspoon of sugar and 12 or so drops of food coloring of your choice into each bowl.  Stir.  Blow bubbles.  Lightly hold a piece of paper over the bubbles to capture their print.  Repeat. Play.  Enjoy your prints and your multi-colored fingers.
