We realize that it has been a long time since you’ve heard from us. It has been six months now since we closed our doors to the public. During Phase 2, museums are allowed to reopen, and we are all working hard behind the scenes to be sure that Mindport’s exhibits, especially our interactive pieces, can be enjoyed safely. In one sense, this work has been difficult as we are obliged to move much-loved exhibits off of the floor for now. In another sense, we are approaching this time as an opportunity to rethink the space.
As you may know from previous announcements, leadership changed at Mindport a little over a year ago. MindPort welcomed a new Executive Director and Creative Director last May. We welcomed a new Exhibits Director in January this year. We are grateful to have been able to keep all of our staff on payroll during our closure. We’ve also been grateful to have the opportunity to do staff training and to make repairs, internal changes, and upgrades to the space. We all look forward to the day when we can welcome you inside again.
In the meantime, we’ve been planning a series of interactive exhibits in our public window space which faces the Holly Street Plaza. We hope that you’ll have a chance either to come down and check out our new project or participate from home.
