A Creek Runs Through It: A photographic exploration of Whatcom Creek by Sam Bottman
We hope you'll come spend some time enjoying the gallery at Mindport this winter. We have the pleasure of showing the photographic work of Sam Bottman, one of our long-time docents. During the pandemic, Sam spent many hours at Whatcom Creek with his camera, and captured the creatures in and around the creek. He visited the creek during the flooding that happened in November 2021 and captured scenes from the flooded Maritime Heritage Park as well. If you want...

Open your Mind to Mindport: a Whatcom Talk article
Open Your Mind to Mindport, an article written by Margaret Bikman of Whatcom Talk, is a great opportunity to get a snapshot view of what has been going on at Mindport in the past few years. The article features the input of a handful of our staff, and most notably has a lot of information from our Director, Tallie Jones, who stepped into this role at Mindport in 2019. We hope you like it!
Spectrum Artist Introduction: Cat Snapp
Let us introduce you to Cat Snapp, our fifth and final featured artist in the Spectrum show, one that explores human perceptions of color through the work of five regional artists. As I've gotten to know her more over the years, and had the chance to see more of what she does in the studio, I've seen these characteristics persist. It's an especially important time for optimistic art for so many of us! Cat...
Spectrum Artist Introduction: Christopher Hartshorne
We're excited to share our fourth artist feature with you from our show entitled Spectrum: Exercises in perception, inclusivity, joy & theory. Artist Christopher Hartshorne's contributions to this exhibit include a selection of works from his series entitled Iterations. This body of work is a set of unique woodcut prints that the artist created using a large selection of hand-carved relief blocks. The technique of creating unique impressions from a collection of visually related carvings...
Spectrum Artist Introduction: Luke Zeiger
We're excited to tell you a little bit about the third artist in our ongoing summer show about Color Theory at Mindport. Luke's contribution to the show was unusual in that he made a commission piece to loan us for this exhibit. It's a large-scale acrylic painting that reminds me of mandalas, kaleidoscopes and masks all at once. The image below shows Luke's giant, brightly-hued painting installed in our Library area. Our visitors have loved the piece because of its joyful palette outlined in...
